Houses Are For Living |
This Spring much of Florida has experienced severe drought conditions. In addition, ever-tightening irrigation restrictions and the rising cost of water are making it more difficult and expensive to keep landscaping fresh and healthy.
Drip and micro-spray irrigation are two techniques that are becoming more popular and cost-effective. Drip methods were developed in the agriculture industry more than forty years ago, and have been growing in popularity in the residential market for the past twenty years. Drip is especially well suited to getting water directly to the root ball of a specific plant, while Micro-spray is a related technology that is generally used for ground covers and area plantings.
To learn more, visit Jess Stryker’s Landscape Irrigation Tutorials. Drip first became popular in America’s Southwest, and The Drip Store, a California business, has a great selection of products and some excellent tutorials on low-volume irrigation.
Have you used Drip or other low-volume techniques on your Florida landscape? How has drip worked for you? Has it lowered your water bills? Please share your experiences by commenting on this post.
